Pennsylvania casino seeking to fill 1,000 jobs

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania -- As reported by The Express-Times: "In a time when many companies are announcing layoffs, Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is seeking to fill 1,000 jobs.
"The casino company's employment center opens Monday at Northampton Community College's Fowler Family Southside Center on East Third Street. People can apply at one of the center's 34 computers or on any computer with Internet access.
"...Sands is looking to hire employees for casino operations, food and beverage, entertainment, security, information technology, administration and other fields.
"Ninety percent of the jobs are full time and 90 percent will be filled locally, said Mickey Trageser, Sands Bethlehem's vice president of human resources.
"...Sands has already received 3,400 applicants for the jobs and expects more than 10,000 in total, Trageser said. The company plans to hire another possible 800 employees when an adjacent hotel, mall and convention center open, she said."

I'm sure that's welcome news for the citizens of Pennsylvania. I've heard these casinos they've opened up there have started off pretty well. Hopefully they'll keep going. They've sure cut into the AC business.
