Post subject: Resorts and Bally's to close? (Fact or rumor?)
|
|
|
|
Looks as if Resorts and Bally's will close it's doors that the beginning of January 2009! Business has been bad, as we all know and apparently Resorts is the first domino to fall. Wonder if we will see more of this in Tunica? If I were a betting gal (ha ha) I would say Hollywood.
If nothing else, Resorts problems probably stem from the fact that they sent wayyyyyy too many mailers out. Seriously, we would get 2 or 3 pieces of mail a week from them. Maybe all those postage fees killed the bottom line!
Times are getting tougher everyday, hold onto your hat!
Cheers

I too am sorry to hear that any casino is closing.
I know times are tough, but as Luna said, all that postage and printing of really useless mailers to anyone that was not a local had to be am expense they could have eliminated. _________________ Jean

Here is what we do know:
All casino hosts are gone!
At this point, NO rooms can be booked past Jan 1 2009
Two other casinos have been (are) accepting their coupons. As Lynn had said, possibly trying to build a customer base when (if) they close.
Also, pretty solid evidence from a credible source that there is a closing planned, although the date isn't known. (Thank you unnamed credible source!)
So we have to wait and see but the fact is....................it ain't looking good for Resorts, especially in this economy. I personally think Resorts was always a weak sister as far as Tunica went so it won't suprise me, not just for Resorts but for Tunica in general.
Should we be taking odds?
Cheers

I think someone will be playing taps at Resorts pretty soon.
It is Dec 1 and still they are not taking any room reservations for January at Resorts. If they are going to close you would think they would give their "loyal" patrons a heads up.
Anyway, that's all I know as of today. I think it will probably go like the FITZ deal Brian posted about Reno earlier. Just one day they are open and the next day they are not!
Cheers

I passed this information on to Sharon of Sharon's Tours and this is what she was told.
I have called the man I work with at Resorts and he said they are still going strong. I have trips planned for next year there, beginning in Jan. He wants to know where you can find this informtion. Do you have a website? I know that he has been very busy booking buses, so I don/t know. There is alot of rumors floating around about everybody, he said, but they will be there. Thanks!

Keno, as of yet there's nothing concrete on it. That's why it's Fact or Rumor? As of today, you still can't book any rooms on the Resorts site for after January 1st 2009, nor can you get a reservation for after then when you call. We also know they got rid of all their casino hosts, which seems an unusual move. There was some other information received from a credible source, but we have no way to prove or disprove it, so we won't "publish" it. The signs are there, but we don't have a concrete answer yet. Maybe tours booked in January is a good sign for Resorts.
