Cherokee Valentine's Day Report

Went over to the local Cherokee casino late yesterday afternoon. We wanted to get some tickets in the pot for the Cadillac drawings in March. They are giving away not one, but two slick red Cadillacs. Probably not my favorite color, but I could deal with it, if need be. Apparently about 2,000 other folks felt the same way. The place was packed, as packed as I've seen it since it opened. Finding a machine to play was next to impossible. I'm guessing the casino bean counters are smiling this morning.

As for play, we both managed to get on machines that we usually play,  I on VP and Bruce on his favorite quarters.  He did okay, holding his own while I managed to quickly spiral into the black hole. I finally gave it up and took my sad face    to find Bruce, who was ahead of the game, and was dismayed to see me down to my last few bucks. Right.    Being the Valentine he is   , he directed me to bank of quarters that "ought to do something".  So, I waited until a seat became available and then commenced playing some sort of star spangled themed game. I ended up setting there for almost 2 hours getting hit after hit, up and down, but never the big banana. Luckily, I mustered the willpower to get up and leave with $200 - a $190 profit. Not bad.  I'd like to have knocked out the $7500 top prize, but am planning to go back after it next weekend.

We finally decided to take a break and get our drawing tickets in the barrell and get something to eat. That was about 11:00 pm and the buffet had closed and the $2.99 all-you-can-eat breakfast was about to open. Stood in line for 30 minutes for what turned out to be simple fare of  eggs, biscuits, gravy, potatoes, bacon, sausage and fruit. I guess that wasn't bad considering the price. However, they only had one serving station set up, so it was a bit chaotic, but the food and the service were both very good. So, we filled up, and rested a bit before going back out on the floor to do more battle.

Unfortunately, we probably should've left at that point. But, you know how it goes.  Both of us cashed out numerous tickets for the duration of our play, all under $100, but could never manage the big bonanza we knew was waiting on us. It was still a great evening. We racked up some good points and left (drumroll) less than $100 down for the two of us!  If you can't leave ahead, then it's my opinion, leaving under $100 loss for 8 1/5 hours of play is not such a heart breaker. No sad faces here.

VP - hit numerous 4OK's - but no royal this trip. Didn't even see anyone else hit one.  After observing VP play over the last few weeks, IMO, there are not that many folks in this area that are true players. Most look like they are trying figure out what to do.    It would be great to see more players learn the game and keep the machines busy though, and drum up some enthusiasm for the game.

Slots - penny's were Hoover's, and sucked up our money in the blink of an eye. I did manage to play Lynn's Stink'in Rich and cash out a whopping $50 ahead. The only two machines they have are really lousy - imo. Quarters and dollars, on the other hand,  were friendly, espcially the house games, and we saw many really good hits throughout the evening.  The ticket redemption machines had long lines most of the night, if that means anything.

On the downside - when the casino is a packed house you can always expect there to be a healthy handful of jerks in the group. And last night was no exception. It was hard enough to find a machine to get on, but it didn't help matters when greedy so-and-so's were playing not two machines, but THREE!.  I wasn't about to say anything because most of the folks doing this were of very large stature - if you get my drift.    The kind that intemidate weenie,  cream puffs like me. I also noticed (sorry if it sounds like whining) that people were having a hard time navigating through the place. I eventually lost count how many times I was bumped, shoved and had the back of my heels walked on.   That is one of my biggest pet peeve's in a crowded casino. How hard can it be to walk through a group of people in an orderly and respectable fashion? I don't notice this so much in Tunica as I do here.  It's a trivial thing, but still irritating.  Doesn't bother my husband though. Mr. Football just puts his head down and forges his way through.    I try to walk directly behind him and let him clear the way.

BTW - the clock said 2:31 when we finally hit the sack.

Happy Valentines!  Great way to spend the evening, heck you couldn't have gone and had a nice dinner for less then $100 bucks!   Hope to hear your hard work earned you a caddy!

Cheers

Lisa, welcome to the wonderful world of drawings!  LOL.  Glad ya'll had a good time, and hey, less than $100 down for that long is a winner in my book.  Get em next time!  I'll mark you down as an excused absence from chat last night.

What a fun way to do valentine's day. I think you came home real winners, where else could you find entertainment for 81/2 hrs for $100 a couple.
I laughed when I heard you were going for the drawing tickets, you know that is dangerous. LOL
