Christmas Day Trip ReportHaving done our family Christmas thing over the weekend, we decided it might be a nice change of pace to hit the local casino Thursday. So, we gassed up the sleigh and away we went to the new Cherokee Casino.
The place was pretty well packed, but there was plenty of room and plenty of machines available. The new casino is an amazing improvement over the old one. Much bigger and very clean. Before commencing play we claimed our casino cash and tickets for the MegaSpin. We also got our $5 Super Senior cash. Right. Like we're over 50. Must've been a mistake, but we accepted the cash anyway.
Bruce took off for the penny's and quarters and I went back to the VP section. It's small, maybe 24 machines quarter to dollar denoms, but they were all vacant except for a couple. So, there I parked and there I stayed for the most part of 6 hours. I won some. I lost it. I won some. I lost it. You get the general idea. It was all up and down, but never that elusive royal flush. However, I was happy to have the chance to play for so long without going totally broke in the first hour. I switched back and forth between 9/6 DDB and 8/5 JOB, but never had the BIG luck that I'd hoped for. After a few short breaks of penny's ( I found the Stink'in Rich's , Lynn!) and quarters I ended up down about $100. I figure if you have to leave a loser then $100 is not too bad. Anyway, I plan to get that back, plus some the next trip, which may be either NYE, or New Year's Day, depending on my chauffeur's attitude and football schedule.
We both tried our luck at the MegaSpin – a giant screen with a button and a handle. The line was long, but moved pretty fast. I took my spins first and got a big fat zero. But, Bruce gets down to his last spin and nails a winner - $25! Not the thousand he was shooting for, but it sure beat getting zilch like I did. We hung around and watched a few more people spin, but never saw anyone else lock down a prize. I'd say that machine was probably set more than a little tight.
As for service, it was just plain non existent. I was served 2 cold drinks over the course of the night. Bruce never got even one. The third one I got at the bar.............for $1.50. Yes, this is Cherokee Casino, and not Tunica. You drink from the bar, you pay at the bar. I cringed laying down that much money for a small glass of Coke, but it was either that or faint from dehydration and hunger. Since they have no gift shop, there is no way to get something like some M & M's or some chips to keep ones blood sugar from nose-diving. I asked a waitress in the bar if they had small snacks available anywhere in the casino and she told me they took out the machines they used to have and that we would have to go to the buffet or the restaurant. Not exactly what I wanted to hear. So, after 6 enjoyable hours we packed it up and came home. Note to self – pack some crackers or a bologna sandwich next time.

Hey, Lisa. Glad to hear you got away. $100 down is pretty good for 6 hours. Next time, remember the snacks. (Forget the blue freezer pack, though. LOL). Hey, now that you're among the land of the employed you can afford these great trips. Next time you'll take them. Thanks for the report.

Hey Lisa,
Not bad at all, 6 hours of play....Wow! I so agree it's fun even if you don't make the big bucks when you get the fun of playing a while. It's no fun to shove your money in and get zilch!
Yeah...sounds like you need to go prepared with some snacks in the purse. Beats starving and I would forget the bologna sandwishes, remember the "Blue" ones...rofl.
Glad you had a good time. Next time you'll snag that Royal.

Hey, good move, Casino on Christmas! It must be nice to have one so nice and so near!
I'm glad y'all could get out and I'm glad to hear that you were only down a hundred for six hours of play!
I'd say it was a pretty good trip!
Better luck next time.
