Dark rainy night with the indians (Harrah's Cherokee)This is a typical Brianz trip report. After reading Lisa's post about the ice storm she had I decided I hadn't been punished enough by going to the post office I needed to be spanked by the Indians for awhile.
I left about 3:45 PM and got down the road a piece and remember I left my coupon at home, after all that may be the $25 I needed to win a jackpot. Ran into some traffic from a wreck on the way back across town so I had to sit there awhile and finally got back home and grabbed the coupon and left again about 4:30 PM. That was the beginning of the end for me, I guess it's true you should never turn around.
I started back across town avoiding the previously mentioned accident and stopped and gassed up and got a coke. About the time I was pulling back out into some insane zig zag construction, thanks TDOT, the bottom fell out. So I venture around the Ocoee river which isn't fun on a sunny day let alone a dark rainy foggy day, since when does the f-ing sun go down at 5:30 PM anyway? I finally made it through and the rain slacked off a bit when the road opened up into 4 wide safe driving lanes, thanks Mother Nature.
Just about when I was heading into the other worse part of the trip, the Natahala river gorge, you guessed it, the bottom dropped out yet again. At least there wasn't cars riding my ass the whole 35 miles through it. But there was plenty of standing water in the middle of sharp mountain curves. For those that have driven front wheel drives you know they don't get along too well with standing water. Anyway the road finally opened back up for the final 15 miles and it was like driving across waterfalls. Damn that weather channel 40% chance of rain my ass!
So I pull in the main entrance about 7:15 past the circa 1930's casino sign.. geez Harrah's get a clue, and intend on parking in my regular lot which is the first on the right but it's been converted to valet parking only. Great, now I'm stuck in this cluster fuck construction they have going, I whip around and go out the hotel entrance thinking I'll park in the hotel parking garage.
Good idea at the time, I pulled in and start driving in circles, first empty spaces I find are for seven star players, next are for diamonds, next is valet, then more valet.. for the love of god will this ever end? I finally found a space on the 5th floor, the top, in the weather. I get parked and get out and see a sign that says bridge to casino pointing down the steps. I remember awhile back they built this nice covered heated dry foot bridge to the hotel and the parking garage so I figured this must be it.. WRONG. After going down 5 flights of stairs I come out about 2 football fields from the casino entrance in the woods.
I hike in, get soaked. The smell of cigarette smoke almost knocked me down when I walked in, mind you I entered right next to the non smoking area. I smoke like a house fire so you know when it bothers me it must be bad. First stop is the bathroom, pee, wash my hands and surprise no towels. I figure since I'm already wet I'll wipe them on my pants because nobody will notice anyway.
Off to find a cashier that looks intelligent enough to cash a coupon, asking alot up there. Finally find one that waves me over, I walk over and have to wait while someone from housekeeping dusts the bars that the cashiers hide behind. I walk around looking at all the old new games they have there. Old new games are games I saw at other casinos 5 years ago but they're just getting them at Cherokee. Must've been a geriatric convention in town because it was full of old women fanning and coughing.
I slide up to a quarter blazin' 7 machine with a $430 jackpot, pop in a $20 and first spin get B7 B7 blank. I probably should have left then but I played the rest of the $20 in the stupid bastard and got anybars twice and 3 blanks 4 times. So I tuck my tail and run to the dollar machines. Played around with them for awhile with no hits to mention, same old any bars and blah.
I downgrade to quarter machines and get on this one machine that has an LCD bonus reel on it that makes really annoying noises. I start playing 5 lines 2 coins a line and get a few small hits and move up to 3 coins a line and get a bonus that paid 300 something quarters. I play it for awhile and end up betting 50 quarters a push on it, since it was hitting so good, that was the end of that, I played about 10 spins and didn't win a coin so I cashed out my $100.. ahead yay!
I moved around awhile and saw a single line lock and roll quarter double diamond 2000. I popped a $10 in and played 4 per line and got 2 doubles on and a jewelry box, the doubles match the bonus symbols and increase the bonus amounts on those stupid machines. So I play the bonus out, 3 picks and one of them is the double diamond, which I don't think has ever happened before.
Nice win for a 4 coin bet. I play off the odd credits at $5 a push, like a dumbass and collect my $75 win.. still ahead.
Move around playing everything in sight and can't hit a damn thing. I park on a quarter Five Times Pay Wheel of Fortune and put $40 in and don't get anybars but a few times, pissed me off, so I moved to the double diamond next to it. That was a mistake. This disgusting fat smelly man sat beside me on the 5X and put $5 in and on his first spin got 5X red 7 5X for 3,000 quarters. If I wasn't in the middle of a spin I would have cashed right out then and left. I collected a 50 coin jackpot in my spin and played it off with no other wins at all.
After losing another few hundred I found myself by a bank of penny quick hit 5 reel games. I had done well on a particular machine back there before so I pushed a $20 in... 20 $1 pushes later I had 0. So in goes another $20 and 22 pushes later I had 0 credits.. sucked. So I moved back to the non-smoking area where there was an old women convention going on at the quick hits back there.
I slid a $20 into a diamond line blazin' 7. Got to play awhile but finally lost, I'm convinced the only time anything stops on the bonus reel is when there's anybars on the main reels. So I went to the other side and played this bally knock off of Triple Stars, called Triple Eagle or something, triple suck your money. I popped a $10 in and a few spins in I hit this.
I guess I can't say I've never won anything on those machines anymore. I played it down to 200 credits with no another win at all, I see a pattern here. Moved to the machine next to it, another diamond line blazin' 7 and confirmed my theory that you get nothing on the bonus reel when there's any kind of a decent win on the base reels.
You'd think that would pay alot more but I guess not. I kept trying to line up the blazin' 7's in a diamond shape but they would never stop for me. Stupid bastards. That was all the wins for me. I walked around for another hour or so and got really hungry after playing Stinkin' Rich. $60 in and nothing out.. woah.
I headed over to the new hot dog stand, Steamy Dogs, and stood in line behind 3 or 4 people and when it was my time to order the lady said "Oh we're closing" I said fine I'll go over to the other dump and if I get food poisoning it's on your head. She just looked at me, stupid bitch.
On the way over to the "fresh" market express I had a little more money to lose, which I did. Got me a quick hot dog, and piece of pie, none of which was really worth the $9 in comp points I spent on it. I decided I had lost enough and started the long trek to the other end of the casino to go back out of course passing some friendly looking machines that were willing to take my money.
I finally found the covered bridge going back to the parking garage, dunno how I missed the elevators the first time but somehow I did, it was pretty pointless tho since it had stopped raining by then. Finally got to the car and jumped in and took off about 11:30. Long drive home with intermittent monsoonal rains and got home about 1:45 and in bed by 3:00.
I guess I needed a reminder about why I haven't been up there at all this year and I got it. Another boring long trip to lose alot of money. Sorry for the crappy pictures, because it is a phone and not a camera. Tunica here I come!

Those drives in a monsoon really make for a fun trip. So now you're doing "Lucy" antics.....leaving the coupon home. At least you remembered the money. Now I'm not saying that was a great thing considering you left your money in the casino.
Why is it a machine will give you some nice little wins, and the minute you up the bet....nada! I think that's the plan, "here comes another sucker, lets play him". ROFL Of course I do the same thing, and will again I'm sure.
Tunica is your's this time...Brian!

Brian, that was a rough night with the weather and having to double back to get your coupons. Does sort of hint at the antics of Lucy, doesn't it. I'm just glad you got there and back in one piece. You did have a couple of bright spots though. Just wish you'd had more of'em.
My eyes lit up when I saw that Double Diamond 2000. That was always one of my favorites. I've lost a lot of money enjoying that game, so it was nice to see you get something out of one of them.
Here's to Tunica!

Brian,
What a trip. Some of those roads are scary when it's dry and sunny. lol I bet you were in a fine mood by the time you got in the casino dripping wet.
Sounds like the gambling is still brutal up there for the most part. I haven't been up there in forever.
I say you got the losing out of the way and you'll show em in Tunica!
Good luck on your trip Brian. Hopefully the weather will be much better too.

Brian,
Thanks so much for the reminder of why we shouldn't go there! They sent us some really crappy coupons so now I know we won't be going. Sorry you had such a time getting there but next time ya forget the coupons and turn back................take that as a sign from God.
Cheers
