Electronic CigaretteHello Friends,
It has been very hectic around here, with school finally out I can breathe. I had a bunch this year that made me question why I became a teacher, but enuf of that......Next year will be better.
Ok......Long and short I quit smoking.....Yay! I quit with help from, the e-cigarette, chantix, and beef jerkey. I had been playin around with quitting since the middle of March...but my mind was not made up. Well cigs in Arkansas have got so high.....50 bucks a carton. The oklahoma "safe" cigs are aweful.....taste like paper....and they are not safer in my opinion. Try driving down the road with your cherry falling off because of that extra layer of paper they have....not safe at all. I started the chantix in March, about the same time i bought the e-cig. at first I just kinda toyed with the idea....then on March 31st I paid $50 for a carton of cigs....I said this will be my last carton....I needed to ween myself off.......Everyday I gave myself 10 cigs......and everyday I had cigs left over . april 21st came and I decided that would be the day....I am not taking cigarettes to work.....I puffed on my e-cig in the car....I ate beef jerkey in the car......The first 3 days were the roughest, but after that....not a big deal....My husband smokes, and it doesnt bother me. I still use my e-cig. I just tell hubby I need to pretend.

Great Kim, I've jerked the idea of Chantix around, I can get it free through work, but the side effect of not wanting to gamble anymore really bothered me, I didn't care about the suicidal thoughts or vivid dreams as much.

Congrats, Kim. I know I need to do the same thing. The suicidal thoughts do bother me with the Chantix. I've seen some patients with them, and it's not pretty. Of course I'm sure that's the vast minority of the people that take it.

LOL Lynn, at first I read that "vast minority" as vast majority....and thought dang.
WTG Kim, you're doing something that I think I'm fast approaching. Between the cost and the cough, plus just about everyplace is non smoking anymore, I'm thinking very seriously of trying to quit. Keep going and remember all the extra money you'll have to go gambling... :

Daughter tried Chantix, but had to stop because of the bad side effects. She didn't tell me about it until way after the fact. Yikes!

I have taken Chantix twice....Once in Jan/Feb 2008 I was going to try and quit smoking....then hubby said lets get married in a month....I needed my cigs....lol....Then Chantix this last time....I really feel like it took the edge off.......I apparently do not pay much attention, because I think this is the first I have heard about side effects....I had no suicidal thoughts...I had some parents at school...that I wanted to rip their faces off, but other than that.....I am much better now.

Congratulations on quitting. Every day will get better and easier. I tell everyone when I smoked I enjoyed every cigarette I smoked but I am so very glad I quit. It has been 16 years.
Doesn't really matter how you quit, just do it.
Continued success to you and keep up the good work.
