Golden Moon lays off 500+ Closes 4 days a weekHeard on Fox news this morning that Pearl River has laid off 500 employee's and is now only open 3 days week!!!!!!!! This may be a trend the other casinos soon follow as they are suffering from the economic mess we are all in. I'll try to find a link and post it. Pearl River is a nice resort but so isolated, it's about 2 1/2 hours from Biloxi and 4 hours from Tunica which could explain they 3 day a week deal, be interesting to see if the other MS casinos follow suit!
Cheers

The slumping economy has caused Pearl River Resort to eliminate 570 people and limit operations at one casino to weekends, the company announced today.
The Mississippi Band of Choctaws operates the resort, which includes two casinos, a hotel, golf club and water park.
The Golden Moon casino will be open Friday through Sunday. The resorts second casino will operate seven days a week.
“The operational changes at the Golden Moon are in response to a number of factors including the country's economic recession, a nationwide decline in gaming industry revenues and over-expansion of the Resort relative to the size of the market it serves,” the statement said.

The laid off workers were all non-tribal employees, the statement said.
I figured they'd fire the white man before they'd fire their tribe.
Just remember this is the same tribe of indians that makes 10 or 20 million a year from making spoons, knives and forks for McDonalds.

oddly enough, after doing some research, it's legal for the indians to fire/lay off all non-tribal employees without having to equalize the numbers for tribal employees.
