Lynn's Birthday Blowout

As many of you in chat know, there was a "surprise" birthday weekend for me in the Wisconsin Dells.  (It ended up not being a surprise, as there were some hiccups in the road and changes, and they had to spill the beans).  Despite it not being a surprise, it was an awesome time!  As a matter of fact, I think it was better NOT being a surprise.

I got there around 2:00 pm on Friday and checked in, got keys for everyone, unloaded my car, and started "nesting".  We stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom condo, which was set up as a 2 bedroom condo with the other bedroom next door included with connecting doors.  I'd just started to snap some pics, when who should walk in but my Mom and my Aunt.  They'd driven from Tennessee and it startled me when they walked in the door.  My mom was pretty excited that at least her coming had been a surprise.  I called Jackie, Jim and Jeanine and let them know which rooms we were in and where to park.  We had an end unit, which was very convenient.  Jackie and her friend were the next to arrive, followed by Jeanine and Joe, and then Jim, Peggy and the boys. Everyone unpacked, chatted and settled in.

Friday night we went to see "Forever Plaid" at the dinner theater.  I was suitably embarrassed when the emcee came on making his announcements and announced my birthday, how OLD I was (he got it wrong, he didn't say 29), and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me.  After coming out from underneath the table it was time for the show.  I thought it was pretty good, and their voices were very good.  I think everyone enjoyed it, and the dinner wasn't too bad for dinner theater fare.  After the show we all went back to the condo and just kind of vegged out. Mom had brought several old photo albums, so we poured through them laughing and joking.  We were pretty embarrassed at some of the outfits we were obviously forced to wear.  They were pretty funny.

Saturday everyone slowly made their way awake.  I think I was the first one up.  Jeanine had made some delicious stuffed French Toast for breakfast.  Jim and Peggy took the boys to the water park after breakfast, and Jeanine, Joe and Mom went down for a little while just to check it out.  When we had gotten back from the show, I ended up having to park in the "back forty" the night before, so I decided I should go move my car closer.  Well, there were a few parking spaces close when I left to get my car.  By the time I got back, there were none left, someone had taken the spot I had, and I ended up even WORSE off. LOL.

After Jeanine and Mom came back from the water park we went to the casino.  (Mom, my aunt, Jeanine and I).  It started off kind of ugly for me, and I was down about $300 pretty quickly, but then things started to turn around.  All of a sudden I started to win or break even on every machine I played.  I did get to play the Triple Diamond Multi-Strike and cashed out ahead on it.  I wasn't winning anything big, just $100-150 or breaking even on most machines.  I was up about $400, and I went to look for the others.  I couldn't find them, but got sidelines by a Triple Black Tie machine.  There were about 12 of them all together, and I had lost on one of them before.  I decided I was going to play a different one and stuck in $100.  Well, this one paid off a little for me, and I ended up cashing out $600 from it.  I got a Triple Black Tie with Double Bars, 2 Triple Black Ties with a Single Bar, and any 7's, along with some other little stuff.  I played on it for quite awhile.  I went and cashed my ticket, got another soda and decided I'd go see what was in the high limit area.  I feel someone step on the back of my shoe and then kick my leg.  I turn around, and it's Jim.  He'd been following me since the soda machine and I hadn't seen him. LOL.  Guess that's a good reason why I can't find anyone.  He knew where Jeanine was so we went to where she was.  I watched her play for awhile, and we walked over to the other side.  Watched her play a little more, then decided to play a Nickle Money Storm.  Now these hadn't been too kind to me for quite awhile.  I stuck $20 in, lost it.  Stuck another $20 in, and lost it too.  Decided to stick $100 in, and it started playing with me.  I got a 10 spin bonus with about 3 retriggers, and ended up cashing out $300.  I called Jeanine to see where she was.  Well, that lucky-duck was sitting at a 2 cent King of the Nile machine and had just hit a $360 hit.  I found her and she was in a bonus round and hit another $360 hit.  She walked into the casino with $100, and walked out with $800.  I think she's the luckiest person I know!  And, for those of you who know Jim.  HE actually left the casino $5.15 ahead.  First time he's ever left a casino ahead.  I had one more small win on a machine, then I started losing again.  Fortunately, it was soon time to leave.  I ended up leaving $1,000 up!  Jackie and her friend had taken off for Minneapolis while we were at the casino.  We'd expected them to leave earlier, but they were having so much fun they stayed most of the day.  I think they wished they'd just stayed at the Dells.

Back to the condo, where we began our "International Buffet"  Peggy had made Lasagna, Dave had made and sent Jambalaya and German Potato Salad, and I'd stopped and picked up some Chop Chae (Korean) and brought it.  We also had Caesar Salad. Jeanine had also brought some BBQ, but we had so much food, we told her to bring it back home with her and enjoy it.  After dinner came the birthday cake and ice cream, and the obligatory Happy Birthday song once again.  We cleaned up some, and Jim took one of the boys back to the water park.  We played a couple of games and yacked for awhile, then hit the sack.

Sunday we all got up and packed up stuff and hit the road eventually.  It was such a great weekend!  My big mistake came after I got home.  I gave Dave half the winnings, and he immediately decided we should go to the casino.  I tried to put him off, but he was persistent and I'm weak.  We ended up going, so my wins ended up being losses.  I did end up hitting $800 on a nickle Vibrant 7's machine on my last $100, so I didn't come home totally broke.

The Saturn made the trip with no "Check Engine Lights" coming on.  Jackie didn't have quite the same good luck with her car.  About 90 miles from home she blew a tire.  She ended up having a tow truck called and they put her spare on.  She got to drive home at a whopping 45 miles per hour.  She got new tires on the back today, so she's set to go again.

Lynn, I really enjoyed reading about all the fun y'all had.  I'm sure you really appreciated the Birthday wishes at the dinner theater. LOL  Families, gotta love em. LOL  They do like to do that stuff to ya, but at least there's this thing called pay back. LOL

Glad y'all had such a wonderful time and hopefully y'all can do it again soon...without you having to add another year of course. LOL
Jean
