Only 50 MilesOnly 50 Miles!
Tuesday Oct. 7
Finished packing and the plan is to catch some sleep and a very early start in the morning. Well y’all know how those plans usually play out. Janet came over for dinner, which was very easy as I had bought pizza. Got my suitcases in the car and all that was left was the cooler and coffee to go. Cathi came in and we had dinner, Janet said, when will we leave? I looked at her and she looked at me, well y’all know the rest of the story. We left here at 6 pm. And it started misting rain about 15 miles south of here. To make a long story short, that mist was soon rain and it never stopped (for more than 5 minutes, anyway). I made it to Decatur, AL before the eyes gave out. Got a room there and I don’t have a clue what time it was. Left about 6 am and the saga continued, rain and more rain. After a white knuckle drive onto Dothan, AL the storms and wind was getting to me, we stopped again! Oh well, one more day than planned. Next morning up early and ready to roll….not….fog is so thick you can’t see 50 feet. So slow is the key word here, now I know Gman is wondering about the title of this report, well only the “Last Fifty Miles”, was clear sailing…LOL
After much gabbing and coffee drinking. Pam shows us to our cool “Bulldog Suite”…
We spent a lot of time in screen room, which had a beautiful view of the lake. Lots of coffee and yakking took place here.
Friday we all checked out the area, did some exploring on base and had a blast.
Saturday Pam and I made a run to the commissary for goodies for the tailgate party during the UGA game. Had a great time sharing that with Pam….she is a sight when they win or lose the play. Good game that day…they won! I have a feeling it was a good thing too as we were ready to celebrate not mourn.
Sunday We went out looking and shopping (eating in-between). Each day went on an alligator hunt at Mission Lake. They were hiding well and I know thery are there as they wouldn’t have signs posted to not feed, swim or wade, don’t think I’d care to swim or wade there. One guy that liked to kayak there told Pam he had seen about 40 and a couple were bigger than his kayak. Like I’d be in that dingy kayak out there…no shit!
Monday.. We went to Banks National Park, it was an awesome area, lots of cypress trees and I know there was lots of things that crawled on their belly’s around there..LOL
Then we made a stop at Mission Lake again to look for alligator’s, BINGO! They were finally moving about…
Had a nice cookout, my favorite of course a hamburger. Sorry Chuck, he got out voted, he is a steak man.
This was the last night so of course that meant packing it up and loading the car for tomorrow’s departure. Pam and I made the most of it and had a lot of laughs and fun until I had to get some sleep for the drive tomorrow.
Left Pam and Chuck’s at 6 am and made Nashville, TN at 5:30, left at 6 am and arrived home at 1:30 pm. The last 30 miles into Springfield was “RAIN”! What else would I have expected….LOL.
Had a wonderful time with wonderful friends…..nothing could have been better. Love ya, Pam and Chuck!
Enlarged just for you, Brian.

Jean I'm glad you had fun, although I do think it's time for an intervention with Pam and the UGA junk. What is that floating in the water in the last picture, a shoe?

Hey jean, loved your report to "gator" country! LOL. Betcha never thought you'd be going somewhere like that! next time Pam moves, she needs to go to Hawaii or someplace civilized like that!
Looks like the "dog" room was quite comfy, and the service seemed quite good.
Did Chuck actually think he would win anything that required a vote with 3 other women?? Tsk, tsk. Some men are slow learners!
Sounds like ya'll had a blast, sans the driving weather.
Cheers

It sure sounds like y'all kept Chuck on the defensive! He just needed an Investigator
to improve that situation! Even the gator hunting!
I think y'all could have gotten a boat and water skis to go trolling for gators with much better luck!
I don't know who would have been the better skier, Pam or Jean but I would hope y'all had a fast boat.
I'm glad y'all had a good time.
Sorry bout the "Only fifty miles" after the rain business. I hope that's no omen a Tunica meet.
Anyhow, it does sound like a great visit.
I loved the "Dowgs Room!" LOL.
Thanks Jean for the great pix and report.

Thanks all! The trip was a blast, had such a good time at Pam and Chuck's.
Let me just say, Chuck stood his own, he just ignored us like he didn't hear...LOL Good man strategey there.
Brian, you can put your foot in that shoe and I'll be glad to take another picture of you walking on water...rofl.

Jean,
I soo enjoyed this visit. Me and Chuck had a blast with you and Janet. Of course it went by way too fast as usual.
I'm glad you enjoyed the Bulldog Suite, y'all were the first to sleep there. You forgot to show the view y'all had from your room. Only the best accomodations for my guests. LOL It's all ready for your next visit. Now if I can only get that 2 1/2 days trip down out of your head I might be able to convince you to come again soon. lol
The pictures turned out great Jean, even the shoe for Brian. LOL
Can't wait till next time!
Love you,
Pam

Glad to hear you and Janet had such a great time with Pam and Chuck. And to be upgraded to the Bulldog Suite! WOW! Jean, I knew you didn't drive quite as quickly as me, but 2 1/2 days? That's getting a little long. Good the gators didn't get you. LOL.

Jean, I sure hated you had to deal with such lousy weather on the trip down. However, I know it was well worth those white knuckles for all the fun and laughs you all shared.
And I was pleased to hear that the Dog Suite was nice, as I think that's where Pam would put me if I ever got down there. I just hope my "Hog" jammies wouldn't cause too much of a ruckus. LOL
I'm glad you got to see a real, bonified, 100% gator too. Not sure if I'd have a steady enough hand to snap a pic though. IMO those guys look a lot better on handbag or a purse. LOL
Thanks for a great report. Good pics too!

Hey Jean! Loved your trip report! One thing that was missing from that visit was ME!!! lol Sure am glad you had a great time...I sure know that Pam did! It is still the only thing she talks about! Maybe one day we can all get together again! And I do mean all of us! lol Don't think Pam will have that much room...so I guess we will have to sacrifice and meet in Tunica! lol

Hey Bev,
Oh my...what a sacrifice that would be for us to have to meet in Tunica....rofl.
Seriously I hope we can all meet again in the near future. No doubt it would be a blast for sure. I had such a good time at Pam's, she may not think she's got room but I bet we could make some....so who knows a camp out in Pam's living room?
Thanks and hope the next trip to Tunica we all make, sure missed a bunch of people this last time....are you listing Lisa??? Pam???? Luna????
