Suites, Sweets, Meet, Eat, and Beat

I left Milwaukee about 1:00 pm on Saturday.  Stopped at O'Hare, as my daughter, SIL, and 2 grandkids were coming in from Germany.  Hadn't seen them in 2 years, so I was very excited.  Unfortunately, the 2 hours between their flights was condensed into about 10-15 minutes of time to spend with them by the time they cleared customs.  Had a little bit of time, and got a couple of pics though.  Back on the road and got to Jean's.

We chatted and went to chat for a bit.  I was tired and more than ready to go to bed, but Jean insisted on driving on to Tunica that night.  I hated to disappoint her, so we headed out on the road.  (If you believe that, I've got some swamp land in Florida to sell you.)   Got to Fitz at 6 a.m. almost on the dot.  1st stop was the rest room.  I noticed a $1 Fitz progressive over $1600 outside the rest room, so I played that one 1st.  Hit the 3 matching Fitz symbols for $300 and decided to play down to $200.  I was almost down to the $200, when up came the winning symbols for the progressive!  Score-$1618.

Had the taxes taken out, tipped the attendant and moved onto Stinkin Rich, where I believe I cleared a $400 profit.  I mentioned to Jean that I should have stopped playing then and quit while I was ahead.  Little did I know how right I was.  I had the foresight to put the winnings from the progressive away to take home, though, so I wouldn't come home broke.  Bev and Stew arrived and it was great to see them.  We all had  breakfast at the buffet.  It was good, but there were several things that are no longer on the menu, and it wasn't quite as good as before.  The magical 10 am. hour arrived, and we talked to G-man and Brian.  Learned that Brian wasn't going to be able to come.  He still had hopes of getting there on Monday, but later learned that wouldn't happen either.  This is after finding out that Lisa and Bruce wouldn't be able to make it either!  Dang it all!  G and Fran invited us up to their room.  They had a beautiful Turret Suite, and it was wonderful to finally meet them both.  They are both so friendly and down to earth.  We had a great visit and took some pics.  Back to try to seek our fortunes, but Fitz had other plans for me.  The machines were hungry and wanted their money back.  About 1 pm, Jean and I hit the wall and tried to go get our room.  Of course it wasn't ready.  I wasn't too surprised over that, but the desk clerk was a little rude IMO.  We were so tired that we fell asleep in the lobby waiting.  I hoped my snoring would encourage them to find a room for us soon.  They told us to come back at 3 pm, but I woke up and saw that people were getting room keys, so we went back up to the desk.  Went to a different clerk this time who was very pleasant, and we got our room about 2:30 or so.  Went up to the room and napped for a little.  While I was sleeping, both Jackie and Lisa called me, and I have no idea what I said to either one.  I'm sure it was interesting. LOL.

We met up for dinner at Fitz at 5:45.  Keno, Donna, and Fast Eddie were there as well.  It was great to meet you Ed and Keno, and good to see you again, Donna.  We had a great time eating, laughing, and telling stories.  Keno had some gift bags to pass around and they were great!  After dinner we all went up to G and Fran's suite again to watch a video on Stew's laptop.  I think parts were missed due to having some difficulty with the sound, and the small screen, but everyone's got a copy of it to watch at a later date.  All too quickly, Keno, Donna, and Ed had to leave to go back to their casino's.  I think Ed left town the next day, so that was the last I saw of him, but I'm glad to finally have met you, Ed.  Hope to do it again.  We all had a laugh when G showed us where his car was parked.  It was back in the back 40.  Only 50 miles!  LOL.  G and Fran were leaving the next day, so it was goodbye to them as well.  Back to the casino floor and it was more losing.  I'd win a little on one machine, then lose even more on the next 3 or 4.  Up to bed relatively early with about a $200 loss for the day, even with the big win.

Up Monday morning and down to do more battle with the slots.  Again it was hit or miss, mostly miss.  Jean called and was on her way down, and Bev came around.  We rounded up Stew and went to breakfast.  Again, it was good, but not as good as before IMO.  They did have hashbrowns, though this time.  After breakfast, Bev and Stew headed over to Sam's and GS, and Jean and I over to HW to meet up with Keno, and Resorts.  We couldn't find Keno at HW and walked over to Resorts.  She called while we were there and told us where she was.  We'd been looking in the wrong place.  After playing awhile at Resorts, where I broke even, we walked back over to HW.  I did play the Dean Martin's Wild Party at Resorts and thought it was fun.  Probably because I stuck in $20 and cashed out $100.  The last Stinkin Rich machine I played brought me back up to even.  Visited with Keno at HW and Donna came down to the floor.  We were planning on eating at Paula Deen's at 3:00 and were delighted when Keno and Donna wanted to join us.  Jean and stopped at the cigarette store to pick up smokes and on to Harrah's to play a little before eating.  It didn't take me long to remember why I don't like playing at Harrah's.  It was a blood bath.  Everyone arrived and we headed up to the buffet.  It was a little confusing to get the comps to get in, (in other words, if you follow their instructions you are doing it incorrectly), but after getting in, it was well worth it.  The buffet was huge with an enormous amount of selection.  If you ate like a "normal person", you could eat there MANY times without getting tired of the selections.  Being that we were only there the one time, we had to try to sample as much as possible.  I tried a LOT of things, and didn't even make a dent in the selections.  I tried fried pickles for the first time.  They were interesting, but not really my favorite.  The fried green tomatoes were excellent.  So was the fried chicken.  Hoe cakes and biscuits were great as well.  Tried chicken pot pie.  The greens were a little too bitter and spicy for my liking, and the hush puppies were overcooked.  All in all, I thought it was an excellent buffet.  Probably the best in Tunica at this time.  Unfortunately, Donna was not feeling well, and Keno had to take her back to HW.  Donna, I sure hope you started feeling better soon.  I've been worried about you.  We said our goodbyes and headed back to Fitz for more losing, then finally up to bed.  I ended up on a down note for Fitz.  The Stinkin Rich machine by the bar was a winner for me, though.  It was like an ATM for those 2 days.  I'd play on it and win, then come back after awhile and do it again.  Unfortunately, It was blocked off the last 2 mornings and I couldn't play it when I wanted to.

Tuesday was moving day, so after breakfast at the buffet, we headed over to GS.  It was 5X points, so I was ready to play.  Play I did, but it was a blood bath.  There were very few machines I could manage to cash out on.  I was walking in the casino, and who do I see playing at a WOF machine, but Memphis Ed!  It was great to see you Ed.  We chatted for a bit, and I brought him up to see Jean, as he was getting ready to head over to Sheraton.  I never did see Cay at GS.  Sorry to have missed you, Cay.   Jean and I went to get our room and we were assigned a very nice remodeled room that we got pics of right away.  I brought a gift bag to my host, Sharon and visited with her for awhile.  She wanted to move us to a suite, so up we went.  It was also remodeled, and absolutely beautiful.  There was a beautiful bar area, fridge, 2 flat screen tv's, a half bath off the living room, a whirlpool tub in the bath and a walk in shower with dual shower heads.  She also had a bottle of wine, fruit and cheese basket with crackers, and a plate of cookies sent up.  I could get used to that very quickly. LOL.  I rested for a bit in the room before dinner, then Stew, Jean and I went down to the buffet for dinner.  GS has really improved their buffet.  There were a lot of good selections.  I wasn't too thrilled with the meat selections that night, but the rest was great.  The bread pudding was good, but it was a little thin on Tuesday night.  More on the bread pudding on Wednesday.  Back out to play and the bleeding continued.  I'd hit a little bit on one machine, only to lose that and more on the next ones.  Stinkin Rich was fairly good to me, as well as a couple more.  The $5 machines just sucked my money in.  I'd lost so much I couldn't even play until Midnight if I wanted to play any on Wednesday.  Did figure out that GS had increased it to $3 of coin in for a point on slots.  Point play remains at 1 penny per point with $10 minimum to cash in.

Up to the room to sleep and I slept fairly late for me in Tunica.  Back down Wednesday morning and we ate at the buffet again.  This trip GS breakfast buffet had Fitz beat, so there really has been an improvement there.  Out to play and there was more of the same losing, although it wasn't quite as quick as it had been on Tuesday.  I was sitting playing Stinkin Rich on Tuesday, and Terri came up.  It was so great to see her! She was telling me how I'd gotten her playing that machine and she couldn't get a bonus on it.  At that time I wasn't doing well on it, either, and I was determined to get a bonus.  (Maybe that's why I was losing, LOL).  Terri and Barry headed over to Fitz to check in.  After she left, and I had stuck my 3rd $100 bill in that machine, it finally started playing for me.  I started getting bonuses, and was getting some good ones.  I finally cashed out $700 from it.  I was doing fairly well on the quarter Diamond Jackpots at GS too.  They are 5 line, rather than 3 like at Fitz.  I managed to cash out ahead several times on those machines, as well as on the Red Hot Jackpot machines.  By dinner time I was down again, though.  I couldn't get much going on the $1 machines.  We had dinner at the buffet again.  (I know, what a shock).  This time the bread pudding was superb!  Jean and I have become self-proclaimed bread pudding critics.  I think we've tried it everywhere we've eaten, and GS has the best hands down.  After dinner, Jean and I headed over to Horseshoe to see if we could change our luck.  I think I've only won at HS a handful of times including this time, and Jean has been with me 2 of the times.  I played some "hit and run" on the dollar machines, only playing $20 in a machine.  I managed to hit on 2 different double RWB and walked out with $300 more than I went in with.  No other real play to speak of.  Back to GS and things started to pick up a little.  I managed to make back my losses from earlier Tuesday plus another $300, which combined with the HS win, at least helped the bottom line a little, although I was definately still in the red.

Woke up at 5 a.m. on Thursday, and got ready and went down to play before breakfast.  Played Stinkin Rich 2 different times, cashing out a little ahead both times.  Tried to get the quarter Blazin 7 jackpot, but it wasn't to be.  I did manage to cash out ahead on it though.  Again, the dollar machines were just sucking my money in.  I was almost ready to have to get into my "bring home" money, when I had a couple of VERY small wins to at least keep me playing.  Stew and Jean came down and we went for breakfast.  Good again.  After breakfast, Stew came up and we showed him the suite, brought the stuff down to the car, and checked out.  Free Play for October was supposed to be available at 10 a.m.  It was almost 10:30 and of course mine wasn't available yet.  I went up to the players club desk and showed them my coupon and had them put it on my card.  In the past I've played my Free Play on $5 machines and lost my rear, so this time I decided to play it on dollar machines.  I had $200, so I decided to play $100 each in each of the Double Black Tie machines.  This turned out to be a very good choice, as the $20 I put in to start the free play turned into $720 when I finished with my free play.  Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky with my point play.  My $180 of free play turned my $720 into $840.  Still put me in the black for the day at GS.

Into the car, and Jean and I headed for a VERY brief stop at Fitz to play our October free play.  My Stinkin Rich by the bar wasn't cooperating very well at all, and I lost my free play plus another $100.  I decided to play $100 in the $1 Double Black Tie.  Got quite a bit of play and ended up back at my original $100 I put in, so I took it over to another Stinkin Rich.  That one played nicer with me and I ended up cashing out $200.50, so I ended up 50 cents ahead for the morning at Fitz.  WooHoo!  Into the car to head home.  I ended up coming home with about 2/3 of my money, so the initial win plus the comeback the last 2 days helped quite a bit.

Jean and I made our usual stop at Lambert's which was excellent as always.  WAY too much food though.  We could easily split an entree and still have food left over due to all the "pass-arounds".  It's too bad they won't charge an extra plate charge and let you do that.

Back at Jean's in time to watch the vice-presidential debate, and I headed back home this morning.

I know I say the same thing each time, but the company sure makes the trip.  Even if you can't win gambling, the friendships make it all worthwhile.

G, Frances, Keno, and Ed-I so enjoyed meeting you and hope it will be the first of many meetings.  It's always great to finally put faces to names.

Jean, Stew, Bev, Donna, Memphis Ed, and Terri-it was wonderful to see you all again.  Again, hopefully many more trips to come.

Brian, Pam, Lisa, and Luna, and Bobbie-you were greatly missed!  I sure hope you can be there the next time.

Hey Lynn, great to have you back home again.     Sounds like a fun trip for everyone.  Glad everyone had fun and made it safely home.

(you should really watch that Jean,  she sounds like a really bad influence )

I sure wish we could have gone too.  Hopefully next time.

Cheers

Lynn - As always, great report. For someone that said she didn't take any notes over the course of a 4 day gambling binge, you sure did remember a lot of good details. lol And, I'm glad you did. Those Thelma and Louise trips you and Jean take always make for a fun read.

Congrats on the progressive win too. I just wish you could've racked up a few more to go with it. At least you exercised good player control and put the winnings away to take home. I'm proud of you. I would've blown it in a heartbeat.

Hurry and get yourself rested up because we need to start plotting the next meet.

Jean

Hey Lynn,
What can I say, except it was a blast!  The good company sure helped compensate for the bad gambling I did this time.
It was exciting to be there when you hit the "Jackpot" at the Fitz.  What a way to start the trip, if it had only continued....darn.
We will have to try Paula Deen's again, for there were so many things that I would have loved to try, but I don't think I'd have lived to tell about it.....Lord, I have never ate so much...

Can't wait till "Thelma and Louise" are on the road again!

Lynn,

Fantastic report.  So detailed.  I almost felt like I was there.  I sure wish I could have.  Next time for sure.  Sorry it was not a winning trip but I do see that it wasn't a total loss so that is good.  If you add in all you saved on food and the room you may be even.

Bobbie
Jean

Oh....by the way Lynn, you didn't get many offer's on that swamp land did you...rofl.
WILynn

Oh, Jean, you know me too well. ROFL.
Stew

What a great report, Lynn!  And what a great time I had with y'all.  It would have been a dull trip without you, Jean, Bev, Keno, Donna, Gary, Fran and Fast Eddie!   It was also nice to run into Ed & Cay at GS, also Terri and Barry... I was hoping we'd get to see more old friends but these were enough to make it a super trip but I surely did miss Pam & Chuck,  Lisa & Bruce, Luna & Perry,  Cheryl and Bobbie and of course Brian, who I expeted to sneak in on us at any time-- alas, it wasn't to be this time.
But I sure did miss everyone.
Lynn you sure did a great job on the dvd!  It turned out wonderfully!  I didn't know how good it was until I got to Texas and saw it on a real computer!  It is amazing that you got so many great shots and quips in there.  I'm sure I missed some so, I'll see it again near the end of the week when I hope to get caught up.
Thank you Lynn, for the great time, some fabulous meals together and a wonderful trip.  I'm sorry I missed telling you and Jean goodbye again as you were leaving-- we were separated by - of all things-- gambling!  LOL.
It was an awesome meet with y'all and those who missed it will never know how much they missed, although they were missed also.
Thanks for the great report, Lynn-- you did another great job !
  A TEAM FOREVER !

Lynn,
I almost felt like I was there reading that.  Almost just ain't good enough though! lol  I'll be in the midst of it all next time. lol
What a way to start of a gambling trip by seeing grandkids you haven't seen in 2 years!  It really stinks y'all didn't have more time.  You'll make up for it later.
wtg on hitting that progressive at the beginning.  That would have woke me up for sure.
I know y'all had such a blast getting together and also getting to meet  G, Fran, Ed & Keno for the 1st time and hopefully not the last.  I sure hate I missed that.
Lynn, I can't wait to see the dvd, it should be arriving within hours with Jean & Janet.  I'll be sure and call you before I start watching.
WTG on recouping a good bit on your last 2 days!  I so enjoyed reading about all the fun.  Can't wait to be with y'all next time!

Hugs,
Pam
