What Goes Up Must Come DownDon't know if I should even write this one, I think you've all heard the "gory details".
Thursday morning, up at o'dark thirty and to the airport. Jackie brings us there, and I think she finally found her way out of there, cause we didn't see her circling when we came back. LOL. Get through security and to the gate, and there's an announcement that the flight crew got in late the night before, so, due to FAA regulations they would be a little late. Wasn't really to bad. Only 20 minutes or so. Then they began the cluster of boarding. This was not an exceptionally large plane, but it sure took a long time to board. I was on an aisle seat, and was pleased to have a couple with a baby across the aisle from me. LOL. Actually the baby was very good. He "squealed" quite a bit, but it was happy playful, not screaming, so it was fine. As we're landing we're noticing a lot of lightning and thunderstorms, which means time to circle the airport.............again and again and again. The plane finally lands, then we have to wait for them to "clear some equipment away from the gate" before we can get to the gate.
Get the luggage, then on the adventure to Alamo for the rental car. Another cluster while they're dealing with a couple of people who have NO idea what's going on. We finally get up there, and I've noticed that there was only ONE mid-size car out there, and someone drove off in it. Of course I ask about that, and I'm told, "oh, they'll bring more out". If there aren't any out there, then you can go to the emerald aisle. Well, of course there weren't any out there, and the only ones in the emerald aisle were PT Cruisers. Since we weren't bringing our suitcase into Fitz, and we were buying cigarettes, we needed a car with a trunk. So we look like panhandlers standing in the middle of the parking lot waiting for a car. They keep bringing more and more compact cars, but no mid-size. I ask some guy who's washing them, and he seems confused about it. Finally, "Reggie", comes out, and I ask him, and he tells us to take a full-size car. My "knight in shining armor". We get a Chevy Impala with air that doesn't work too well. Yeah, I'm happy. But, it does move and we're off to Tunica.
First stop, Resorts. It was looking kind of ugly, but I made a GREAT comeback on a Stinkin Rich. I'd stuck money into it and lost, then Dave came and stuck money into it and lost, so I decided it was BOUND to hit a bonus. I took a $200 ticket I had from another Stinkin Rich, put it in there, and started betting 4 per line. Down to about $140 or so, and I hit a bonus. It was a good one. Brian posted a pic of one of the spins. Ended up cashing out a ticket for $1,000! Played a little more on some other machines, and left Resorts up $400. Over to Hollywood, where, I proceeded to lose what I was up, plus $200 more. Yeah, that's what usually happens to me at HW. On the good side, I did get 2 free Diet Cokes from the fountain from them. Yeah, I snagged that great comp. LOL
Stopped and picked up the cigarettes, and over to Fitz. Got checked in, and my host had given us a turret Suite. It was pretty nice. Biggest hits over there were a 95 spin bonus for $507.30 and Dave and I each put in $100 and played the $5 Double Black Tie-Hit $800 on it. The $1 machines sucked for me again. Not even worth trying. We had dinner at the buffet, and, as Brian said, it is a HUGE upgrade. The food was very good. I really liked the Asian Station. There was some chicken that was inedible. It was a HUGE chicken leg, so it was either a very oversize chicken or a very undersized turkey. LOL. I only had 2 complaints about the dinner buffet. #1, they don't have the caramel apple cheesecake anymore and #2, they weren't clearing away plates from the tables. Minor inconveniences, except for the cheesecake. Up to bed, and I'd only lost $300 at Fitz. Pretty good for all day long. Dave was up a little.
Friday morning, and I went down to play before we checked out. THAT was a mistake. What a bloodbath! Couldn't seem to get anything going. Lost a fortune that morning. Had the breakfast buffet, and, again, Brian was right on that one. I wasn't impressed. It was a downgrade. The biscuits were like gray hockey pucks, and eggs were awful. On the bright side, our server was delightful. We got our stuff together and headed over to GS for the next 2 nights.
Room wasn't ready, but they said it would be ready about 1 or 1:30. Sat down at my first machine-a 4X Diamond, and hit 4X 4X Triple bar, for $960. Played it to 1050 and cashed out. It looked as though things were looking up. Looks can be deceiving. For both Dave and I, it ended up being Black Friday, as in Funeral Black. The losing started and continued, and continued and continued. I was wearing my Tunica Players shirt, and am hoping I don't have to burn it. We had dinner at the buffet that night, and it was VERY good. It was Steak and Seafood. Really enjoyed it. By the time I went up to the room, I was down a LOT of money between Fitz that morning and GS that day. I called Brian and requested he send money and bandages. Oh, we got a "petite Suite" or something like that. A little larger than a regular room, and it has a front foyer with a table with a lamp on it. Waste of space if you ask me. It was a nice room, but I wish they had fridges in them.
Up Saturday morning, and I was trying to figure out how my money would possibly last through another day, or, more likely, how I'd get more to keep playing. Fortunately, that didn't need to happen. Went to a penny Stinkin Rich, stuck in $100, cashed out $200. Did the same again, and for a third time. Fourth time, it ate my $100, so I left that machine up $200. Over to my next victim-another Stinkin Rich. Put in $100, cashed out $300. Repeat, and cashed out $200. Did the same again. Then, when I put the fourth $100 in, things started to get VERY interesting. I was getting bonuses, and good hits. Dave and I were supposed to go eat breakfast, and he came over. I think I was between $400 and $500 on the machine. I told him I'd play down to $400 or up to $500. He wanted me to cash out then, cause "you'll just lose it". Well, I'm glad I didn't listen to him! As he's standing there, a few spins later, I hit a spin for $200. Then a bonus, which Brian posted a pic of as well. Got another bonus in there too, and finally ended up cashing out a ticket for $1300. We went to go eat and I called Pam from the buffet. We chatted for a few, and then I went back out to play. Sat down at a different Stinkin Rich, and stuck $100 in it, and hit a spin worth $500! Cashed that out, and stuck another $100 in. Now I was out of $100's, with everything else in tickets. I did get it up to $200 at one point. I figured if I got it to $300, I'd cash that out and put in a $200 ticket, but I never made that. Played on that last $100 for about 3 hours or so, before it finally ate it up. Cashed my tickets in, and stuck some of it back to come back home with. Played some more with a couple of small hits. Give and take. Went up to the room for awhile, and it was pitch black and Dave was sleeping. I brought my ash tray and soda into the bathroom and talked to Jean and Jim for awhile. Jim and Frank were heading over to the Sheraton. Decided I'd walk over there to meet up with them. On my way, I ran into my host, so I stopped and chatted with her for awhile. I asked her about the sale rumors, and if she'd heard anything new. She told me the company was telling them GS is not for sale at this time. (with the caveats that EVERY property is for sale at the right price and, it could just be company line to keep morale up). On the way over to Sheraton I tried to text and call Jim to see where they were. Walked through the casino and couldn't find them. Settled at a machine and lost $100 like it was water when I got the text back that they were on their way to GS. I trudged back over there and looked for them, but didn't find them. We finally hooked up later. Visited with them and we played some. Mostly I watched them play---I was still trying to protect my money for that evening. LOL.
We all had dinner together at the buffet. Saturday was again Steak and Seafood night. Unfortunately, most of it was reheated leftovers. Not as good as Friday, but I don't think we left hungry. We waited for our names to be called at both of the drawings, but it wasn't to be. I did get a $500 hit on a $2 Double Triple Diamond machine.
After the 7 pm drawing Jim and Frank headed back to HW and Resorts so I walked them to the door. Now, for my "people descriptions" of some interesting people I saw. I was walking by the high limit area at GS and there was a woman who appeared to be in her 60's or perhaps somewhat older. I think I may have seen her there before, and I think she may have been in almost an equally outrageous outfit. She had bleach-blond platinum hair, was wearing stilleto high silver heals. Had on skin-tight platinum silver pants and a silver shirt that looked like disco ball mirrors. It was quite a sight. And, she'd either had a few too many, or couldn't walk in the heels, because her companion was practically holding her up. Then, as I was standing outside with Jim and Frank, this couple walked by. They were probably going to the night club, but actually looked more like a pimp and a hooker. She had on a mini dress that she'd obviously been poured into. It was very tight, and she didn't really have the body to pull it off. It was also short enough to leave very little to the imagination.
Said goodbye to Jim and Frank until our next meet the end of September. Back to the casino to do battle. Took a foray into the high limit area, which was a $500 mistake. Did get on a $1 Triple Double Lucky 7 machine, where I'd cashed out ahead on Friday night (One of the VERY few cashouts), and hit Triple, Double, White 7 for $960. Cashed out a $1000 ticket. Took stock of the stash, and put some more money back to bring home. Played a little more, but it was SO crowded, it was hard to find a machine I wanted to play on. I just went up to the room.
Up this morning, and down to the casino. Not really too early. Around 7 a.m. There was one Stinkin Rich I never did get to play on. It was out of service on Friday, and a good bit of the day Saturday. Then it was continuously occupied. There was a lady playing it this morning, that made me look like I play in slow motion. I've never seen anyone play so fast. I have no idea how much money she stuck in there. I know she had money in when I first saw her, she lost that, and I saw her stick in at least $200 more. She was almost broke when I left the area, and when I came back she had over $1K in the machine in credits. At one point she had it up to $1800. When I left she was down to $1400 or $1500. Would be interesting to know how much she had in there.
We had breakfast at the buffet and played a couple more machines before checking out. I lost some this morning, but nothing more than I'd planned. Saturday was a good enough day for me that I managed to make back the money I'd lost at GS on Friday. I ended up breaking even for GS. Checked out, returned the rental car and to the airport. I ended up coming home with a little more than 60% of my money, which was pretty good considering how ugly it looked on Saturday morning.
Now, I'm trying to talk myself out of going to the local casino tonight. We COULD cash coupons before midnight, then again more after midnight. Maybe I'll be asleep. LOL

Hey Lynn, finally you made it home with a good amount of your gambo fund! Not bad at all, considering all the fun and nice comps it all becomes acceptable.
I know you must have thought, Oh crap! When the plane was going to be late. Sure glad it wasn't a long wait.
You done good on the car, I remember the escapade you and Pam had going to Tunica in the puddle jumper..
Would sure be nice if they could improve something without losing the progress they've made. The breakfast was really good at the Fitz (after a long practice run to get there). Now the other meals are much improved, at the cost of breakfast backsliding.
You and I seem to find the worse biscuits in Tunica, I remember those gray hockey pucks we had at the GS.
It was fun talking to you the other night, nice to know why we had the echo...
Glad you got to meet up with Jim and Frank, I look forward to seeing them again in Sept. Sooner or later we are going to hit something on that slot pull we have.
Since you are still on vacation, you know you'll be going tonight...
Good Luck!

Another trip in the books and if I know you, another one tonight to try and recoup the Tunica losses! Enjoyed the report. I guess this means you & Bobbie were just passing planes in the sky???
Cheers

I'll have ya'll know, I did NOT go last night. I can't say I'll continue to hold strong, but I didn't go last night. I was pretty proud of myself. LOL.
It was a fun trip and, fortunately, didn't end as badly as it looked like it would for awhile.

Lynn,
What a great trip report. Sounds like you had a good trip even though you did not bring home extra cash. I am sorry we did not meet up on Sunday. I got to the GS around 11:00 a.m. and I kind of looked around for you without really looking.
BTW, if ever you stay at GS and there is no fridge in the room just call for one. They have them and will bring one to your room free of charge. I request a fridge every time I stay there.
