Post subject: Luck at the Horseshoe ?
|

Hello to ALL . . . . . . .
We are looking forward to a visit at Horseshoe soon. We mostly play the machines however I will stray to the table games now and again.
Has anyone played there with success ? Somewhere in these forums I have read they have good priced table games.
We HAVE NOT yet played there . . . . table or machines. Would love to hear from anyone.
We are aware of the '1/2hour play/ free buffet'.
Also . . . any comments on the next door neighbors; 'Sheraton' and 'Gold Strike' ???
Thanks . . . . .

Rich,
I am sure someone here will have better knowledge about this than me. I haven't been there to play in six months.
They have as good a play as any of the other casinos there. Many people like a machine that they may not have, but I know they have a nice selection at the Shoe. I didn't find very good paytables on VP, but that's getting to be hard everywhere. Sheraton had the best VP but I heard they have removed many of their VP machines. Sheraton I have done well there, as you know it can be feast or famine anywhere you play. They do have good drink service at the Sheraton (or did) the last time I was there.
The GoldStrike is a very nice casino, and lots of the newer video machines that people love.
Table limits are flexible, weekends it is hard to find a $5 , week days no problem. _________________ Jean

Rich, like Jean, it's been about 6 months for me in Tunica. Haven't been to Sheraton for longer than that. I used to really love Sheraton, but it's kind of come down on my list. I've had a few winning sessions at Horseshoe, but mostly not. It can be a fun place though. It's packed on the weekends, or at least it used to be. Gold Strike is one of my "home bases" and I feel comfortable there. The lobby is just beautiful, and I think it's a "pretty" casino.
Things change so fast in Tunica that it's hard to say what's there now. You used to be able to go a couple of times a year and everything was pretty much the same. Now there are a lot of changes. Both good and bad. As Jean said, the VP pay schedules at Horseshoe aren't known for being too good. Rumor has it a lot of the good pay tables at Sheraton have been removed as well. I think most are gone at Gold Strike too. I don't play table games, so I can't help you much on that.
The buffet at the Horseshoe has typically been very good. One of the best, if not the best in Tunica most of the time. I think we've all "casino-hopped" around the area and tend to gravitate towards the places we feel more "at home" in. Since I stay at Gold Strike for part of my trips, I usually get in at least some play at Horseshoe and/or Sheraton, since they're an easy walk. Let us know what you think after you go, please. _________________
