Well, the last report was much better than this one is gonna be…..lol  I had really good luck on Thursday Night.  I decided to quit while I was ahead.  We were both in the room and in bed by 11 or 12.  We ate at the  Shoe Buffet about  9pm.  Some stuff was really good, and some stuff had been sitting too long.  Desserts were not good…..I just hate getting a piece of pie that  is warm from sitting at room temp so long or  a piece of cake that is only good in the middle….yuck….Oh Lynn….I avoided the Red Velvet.  I woke up extra early on Friday Morning , played on the net, then got sleepy and went back to bed….Mom and I lounged around the room all morning, drinking coffee and eating sweet rolls.  We had a really good time.  We finally decided to go play for a while……more than likely should have stayed in the room.  But if we had a man would not have came up and gave me 2 free buffets.  He worked in the casino…called me by name and asked if I would like 2 free buffets…I said sure…he wrote a slip and gave it to me.   Mom had to go to Harrahs between 4 and 8 to pick up some Paula Deen Gift, so we went back to the room, stop the bleeding for a while and take off.  A couple hours before Hubby had a sent a text about bad storms and for us to hunker down and watch the weather.  When we went back to the room, we started watching the weather and decided it would be best if we stayed put for a while.  We were on the 5th floor looking over the parking garage.  Those light poles started shaking.  It turned black as night.  Then our windows started vibrating and rattling, and kinda sucking in and out….It was scary.  I told mom I thought we might should go downstairs, because I was scared we were going to lose electricity.  Then  BOOM!.,..The lights started flickering, the tv wouldn’t stay on…..then I was really scared.  We started down the hall, and a housekeeper showed us where the stairs were…we got to about the third floor…then the lights went out again.  Then they came back on, and then I was really really scared.  We made it to the hotel Lobby, people were camped all over the area.  A security guard asked if we were leaving and we said not right now, but we were wondering about the weather and if we should be alarmed or taking cover somewhere.  Well, everyone there is in LaLa Land, and don’t know anything. The security guard proceeded to tell me, we were not going to get any bad storms until about 8 that night.  I told him to look around…IT’S HERE!…and it was 4 o’clock.  He said the employees would probably go to the basement…..hahaha….I would be like a spider monkey on someones back…they would be takin me with them.  So Mom and I figure we are on our own.  We kinda stood around and looked. Then decided to go back to our room.  A short prayer filled elevator ride back to the 5th floor, and we went to watch the weathermen in Memphis.  It was over for us thank goodness.
We went to Harrahs and got Moms gifts.  Did not play at Harrahs.  Came back to the Shoe.  Small wins and kinda keeping me playing.  Money is not going as fast as my last few trips.  We were having fun and drink service was good.  Mom and I visited the Diamond Lounge each Day.  It was awesome, good drinks and nice munchies.  Shoe buffet for Friday was Seafood Feast….and all I can say is Hell Yeah!  Lobster Tails Crab Legs, boiled shrimp…right up my alley.  A man offered us KC and the Sunshine Band Tickets for the concert that was starting  right at that minute, but we were still eating and figuring I would be way to full to “Shake, Shake, Shake…my booty”, and we were.  Desserts still not good, but all the rest of the meal was wonderful.  Out to play a little more then to the room to get ready for bed.  The next day we checked out and  saw the storm damage all the way home.  Mom and I had a great trip.  We did not come home winners, but I did find a few machines that would let me play for  a while.

Kim

PS….first gambling trip since stopping smoking….Thursday night, 1st night, I wanted to smoke cigs so bad, then I saw the cig machine, I thought one pack wouldn’t hurt….then I saw they were nine dollars a pack!…I decided I needed to keep that willpower going….so all I smoked was my e-cig for our trip.

Kim, glad if you couldn't come out a winner, at least you could keep playing!  I don't usually figure I'll come home a winner, but at least want some playing time.

That storm sounds scary.  Glad to know they're on top of it and didn't even know it was going on. LOL.  I can just picture you riding on some employee's back to the basement!

Good thinking to avoid the red velvet cake.  I truly think that may be on my top 10 list of worst things I've ever eaten (or tried to eat).  Overall, IMO Horseshoe does still have the best buffet in Tunica. (that I've tried).  They all have there pluses and minuses, but they seem to be more consistent.

Great report, Kim.  Glad you and Bertha had such a great time.

Hi Kim
Glad you had fun ---tell me more about that e cig.
Pete is quitting and has had a horrible time--
I saw those cigs in Vegas but I didn't pay much attention.
Where did you get it?
How much was it?
Easy to use?
How much do you like it and how helpful was it (in regards to giving up tobacco)?
Thanks!!

I wrote about the e cig on another thread, so if i miss anything u may want to find it.....might be under general chat.
Mine is the NJOY Brand, NPRO...I have seen other brands since buying mine.  I bought mine at a Pilot Store, which is like a truck stop.  But I bought refill cartridges at a Flash Market....which is just any regular gas station.  The original Ecig with charger and 5 refill cartridges and an extra battery cost 69.99 + tax.  10 refills cost 20.00.  I have been using the same cartridge for several days. Very easy to use, similiar to smoking a pipe, instead of a cigarette.  I found myself trying to re-train my brain to hold it different than a cigarette....or just do different things.....get out of my routine.  I found it very helpful in quitting smoking....i still use it, but I use it more during times when I really wanted cigarettes.  I loved driving and smoking, drinking a cocktail and smoking, surfing the internet and smoking.  Now I use my Ecig, and all it takes is a couple puffs or just holding it.  I also took Chantix for about 5 or 6 weeks, and started eating Beef Jerkey, especially in the car.  I have not smoked a cigarette since April 21.
Tell Pete Good Luck, and the first 3 days are the hardest,   My hubby still smokes, but his have not bothered me.

Above is the first discussion on the ecig

Hi Kim!
Enjoyed reading your trip report!  Horseshoe Buffet is wonderful, but sure am glad that you stayed away from the Red Velvet Cake!  That was the worst cake I have ever put in my mouth!  And I love Red Velvet Cake!
Glad that if you couldn't come home a winner at least you got some play time!  There have been some trips for me that I wish that I could have at least gotten some play time!
Storm sounded awful scary!  I think you handled it a lot better than I would!  lol
Glad that you had a great time!  Now I'm ready to start planning a trip too!  Thanks for the trip report.

Kim,
Hello, we also did have horrible storms at Fitz Friday evening while eating my crab legs the lights went out and this alarm recording come over loud speaker "Please evacuate the building" I thought HELLO.....we are in a severe storm and I am enjoying my crab legs, I dont think so!! Anyway, they came on again and said do not leave the building, due to bad weather. Our power was out for maybe 10 minutes. Alot of people left during that time and I swear to you those machines really got tight after that. Alot of them were still flashing and you could not play them for maybe two to three hours after the storm had passed.  They sure get some strong wind there  I must say. The trees were doing toe touches out the window of the Buffet where we were.  I hope you all had a nice time even though it stormed.

Tunicamama, I'd have a hard time leaving those crab legs too!  Glad you had a good trip in spite of the storm.  Sounds like a BAD one.  I would have been scared.  Funny thing about those power outages, I remember once several years back they had some kind of a power issue at Gold Strike and machines in the high limit area were hitting jackpots like crazy.  I guess they reset to maximum pay value or something.  Wish I'd have been there then.

Kim, I really enjoyed your report.  I'm so glad you and your Mom got to get away for a girls trip.  You two always have fun together.

You had me cracking up with that spider monkey comment.  I totally agree, that had to be scary.

Sorry you didn't win loads of money but the fun you and your Mom had trumps that.  Thanks for sharing and hope y'all get to go again soon.
