On Friday evening Donna and I ate at Fairbanks Steakhouse. We had a wonderful meal there. Adrian Wallace was our server and really did a great job. All of the food we had was very, very good.
For appetizers Donna had the Delta BBQ Butter Shrimp and I had the Lobster and Crab Tower. We each got a half of a lemon with these and it was rather hard to squeeze the juice from them. I told Adrian they needed to be at room temperature - that was my only complaint about the meal and it was a minor one at that.
Donna passed on the salad, but I had the Fairbanks salad. It had greens, spicy pecans and carrots with a lemon shallot vinaigrette dressing.
For our entree we had a Chateaubriand which we shared. That had to be the best tasting meat I've ever eaten. I asked Donna if I could ask for some catsup to put on it, but she didn't think that was very funny. It came with several different kinds of baby squash, carrots and mushrooms.
For desert, which we ordered to go, Donna had a chocolate pecan pie. It was very rich and took Donna 3 tries to get it all eaten. I had the Key Lime pie. It seemed more like a cheesecake to me. It also took me 3 tries to get it all eaten.
Our meal, which was comped, came to $124.
On Saturday we ate left overs and then on Sunday we went to the buffet. The best thing to say about that was it was comped. Donna got the prime rib and needed a steak knife to cut it - not too tender. I did enjoy my hot cherry cobler with ice cream though.
Monday we ate at the Hollywood diner. I can't say the service was bad because that would imply there was service to begin with. Donna ordered the patty melt and I ordered a club sandwich. We each had onion rings. The food wasn't hot when it was served. My club sandwich wasn't exactly how it was described in the menu. I checked the menu on-line after we got home and mine was as described in that menu. Maybe the menu I looked at in the diner had a super-duper club sandwich which I didn't order. Oh well!! The food was good, though. Much better than the buffet.

Keno, thanks for the dining reviews! Fairbanks Steakhouse sounds wonderful. The buffet sounds like it could be passed on. LOL. Hope you and Donna had a great time, and also hope you're going to post a trip report. (Also come into chat Wednesday and give us the low-down). _________________

Keno, the steakhouse dinner sounded really good. And I am now craving key lime pie! LOL
Too bad the diner is still as slow as molasses. You'd think over the years they'd have tried to improve on the service. Guess that's something that will never happen. There's nothing worse than starving too death at midnight and it's the only thing open. I can remember many times being tempted to curl up in the booth and catch a few winks while waiting for food.
I agree with Jean about ketchup being a part of fine dining. Ahhhh, nectar of the god's!
