Post subject: Birthday Party and Casino Run
|

Dave and I went up to Wisconsin Rapids for an 80th Birthday surprise party for his step-mother. It was a lot of fun, and she was surprised, but not TOO badly, which was a good thing. It was at a bar and they had some of those "fake" slot machines there. You play real money on them, but you really can't figure out how the games work. You aren't supposed to be able to cash out real money on them, but there are ways. I smoothly put in a total of $40 and took out $10 before the party. I know.........it's a gift. LOL.
The bartender was a little worried about me driving with so much Diet Coke on board, but she let me go anyway. There is a casino up there in the area, and I mentioned something about going there. Dave told EVERYONE that I wasn't going, that he wouldn't LET me. Well, those who know me, know this is VERY bad thinking on his part. Plus, I had no interest in being bored in a hotel room all night watching TV.
We get to the hotel about 7 pm. Dave is safely and securely asleep by 8 pm, so I made my escape. I went down to the hotel desk and got directions AGAIN, as I forget from year to year, and it's out in the boonies. Glad I did, because they gave me a coupon for $10 free play if I accumulated 10 points on my card. Get in the car and take off, and am only a block away from the hotel, still in the "city" part when a deer comes running across the road. I heard a clunk, but saw the deer safely arrive on the other side of the road, so I think maybe a hoof just caught my back bumper, as I didn't see any damage. Lucky break for me.
Got to the casino and asked for a players card. I had one, but I hadn't used it in over a year, and hadn't even brought it with me. Second lucky break, as all records are gone after a year, so I got a new card and $10 of free play for getting a new card. Asked about the points and it was $10 cash in for 1 point. Yuck.
Started playing and it was pretty ugly at the beginning. Couldn't really get anything going, although I was getting some play out of some of the machines. Before I knew it, I was down $400. Not good. I DID have well over my 10 points though, and went to get that free play loaded. Played a $1 Deal or No Deal machine near the front.......nada. Decided to take my remaining $60 and play a $1 machine. Sat at a 3 coin Triple Black Tie on a progressive bank and hit Triple Black Tie, Triple Black Tie, Double Bar for $540. Cashed out, and now I was up a little. Played machines around, cashing out a few bucks ahead now and then and got some good play on a penny Money Storm. Got to where I was $90 up, and decided to go back to the $1 machines. This time I sat at a Double Red White and Blue. Got down to $37 and up came this:
A nice $1440 hit! Had them take the taxes out, and got busted by security for taking the pic. It isn't too good, but I didn't want to risk taking another one. He was nice about it, though. After taxes it put me a little under $1K ahead. I REALLY wanted to be $1K ahead.
Because of the W2G, I got ANOTHER $25 free play loaded on my card. I took that with my $37 to a $1 Triple Cash. I did end up getting any 7's for $100, but just couldn't leave. I was hovering right around the same spot, then ended up down $100 on a Life of Luxury multi-level progressive. I decided at this point that I would play $1 Blazing 7's. I picked the machine with the largest progressive and lost $100. That sucked, cause I REALLY wanted to get to $200, so I could be my $1K ahead. Since it wasn't even, I stuck in another $100, and did hit matching 7's and cashed out $300.
Fortunately for me, this casino has Winter Hours starting in October and closes daily at 2 a.m., and it was now about 5 minutes to 2. I took my tickets up to the cashier and cashed out and left.
Got back to the hotel, and was waiting for Dave to start yelling, so I could say, "so I guess this means you don't want your half of the winnings?", but he just told me I didn't need to sneak in, he was awake. He was happy about his $500 though. It was nice to leave with the extra money instead of giving it back plus more for a change.
I guess there are 3 morals to this story:
Telling me I CAN'T do something will often result in me doing it.
Don't listen to Dave (that seems to be a repeating trend. LOL)
Play at a casino that closes so you can leave while you are ahead.

Nice going there Lynn! What a deal that they closed and you had to leave ahead. The 2 a.m. saviour! LOL Wish ours would close like that, but nooooo, they know I'll stay until my pockets are turned inside out and my stomach is rumbling and I have no money left for food. LOL
That was really nice of you guys throwing a suprise BD party. 80 years is certainly a milestone. _________________

Hey Lynn,
Nice ending for you! Now you know how to leave a casino, just pick one that closes...LOL WTG on the wins!
Glad you didn't listen to Dave, but I guess I have to admit that it didn't surprise me. Seems that he would know by now that the sure way to have you do something is to say, " I won't let her!" ROFL
Missed you in chat, but we had fun talking about you!!! _________________ Jean

Wow Lynn, I think we all know now to avoid telling you not to do any thing!! LOL.
Congrats on having such a good night and for leaving while ahead. I won't even mention why you left at that time.
I'll just say WTG!
WE really did miss you in chat last night.

WTG Lynn!
Glad the party went well with nothing bad from the surprise. LOL
I can't believe he hasn't learned that lesson yet...to tell you you weren't gonna do something. LOL
Are we gonna have to start having announcements just for you while we are in Tunica? LOL

Lynn you done good. It really was a win win situation..............if you had lost you could have blamed Dave because he said he wouldn 't LET you go and you could say you now HAD to go because of that, so if you lost he would have owed you your money back! Just to teach him a lesson, ya know? LOL. WE can twist anything anyway we need to.
I like the idea of forcefully being evicted from a casino when you have a fistful of their money. Not sure I would be pleased if I had been losing and wanted "just" one more shot at getting my money back.
I confuse myself.
Cheers
